Understanding Net Metering
Net metering allows solar owners to export excess electricity to the grid and receive credits on their utility bill. Full retail net metering credits exports at the same rate you buy; some utilities offer a lower export rate. Self-consumption (using solar directly) is most valuable since it offsets retail-rate purchases. The optimal system size matches annual production to annual consumption.
