How Heat Loss Is Calculated
Q = U x A x Delta-T = (1/R) x Area x (T_indoor - T_outdoor)
Infiltration = 0.018 x ACH x Volume x Delta-T
The total heat loss is the sum of conduction losses through each component plus infiltration losses from air leakage. Furnaces are typically sized at 125% of the design heat loss.
